In 2004, the Motorway from Zagreb to Split was opened. This new Route fulfils the newest standards in security, its tunnels and bridges are built on the most actual technical realizations guidlines.

So - since 2004 - by passing the frontiers to croatia you're leaving the traffic-holdups...

The best route depends from where you come - but usually via Rijeka or via Zagreb/Karlovac to Split, Ploce and Dubrovnik.

But more then only the comfort to drive on a new highway, the route offers many clean rest-stations. Several of them are built on very nice lookup points, to picturesque towns, island and/or bay's.

Another highlight on your journey to cavtat is the famous rope bridge from Dubrovnik. This brigde, finished in 2002, also offers a phantastic view to Dubrovnik and the nearby islands.
